Tall/Plus size women rejoice – a great costume for a great price!!
Wow! This was an amazing costume. First, let me say I am a bit over 6’1″ and about 190lb so this costume was the perfect length in the arms and skirt; however, I am not blessed with a bust so it was entirely too big there – but a few little sowing spots and I was able to keep it from drooping too much. Everyone loved this costume! I got a lot of compliments on it, even to this day!For people thinking of buying this, it is truly a plus size costume – but I needed the sizing because of my height and it delivered on that front. The boot toppers were great but they tended to fall a lot. I wore socks underneath so they didn’t come completely down but I tugged on them a lot to keep them up. Also, I wear a women’s and men’s 12 so they didn’t even cover half my foot but it was beside the point because people never look down at your feet, especially since I was behind a counter working at a Subway. It did not get too hot despite being a velvety like texture and long sleeves. I am generally cold blooded but working in a Subway you can sweat and I didn’t feel too uncomfortable or hot in this, which is a blessing! I did run into some trouble when bending over – the skirt comes up a lot so I had to bend at the waist when getting something from the ground level, no big deal just a bit flustering.All in all, I would still give this a 5/5 stars because I ordered a plus size costume knowing I would have to alter it slightly because of my frame. The belt was great because I just tied it behind my back and it cinched the costume nicely (bonus, the cape hides that!!). This is the best costume for the money as well, it is a bargain compared to what I would have spent on a costume in my size!! Just know, you will truly feel like Supergirl in this! Pictures below show the bright, beautiful colors and fit.

Nice quality, on time shipping, works well, watch sizing
I bought this costume for my niece. She is a busty 12/14, so I originally ordered the Plus Size. It was beautiful, but the arms hung off the edge of her wrists and the shoulders where the cape was sewn on turned the neckline outwards. Also, the neckline was off, no matter what bra went under it and the belt was a hula hoop. I got the large size. (Note, there is a “one size” plus size and although it was big on her, I don’t think it would work well for every size and shape of plus size people.) Again, the costume was very nice- vibrant color, decent materials (velvet-ish top, metallic skirt and cape, sturdy sewn on “S” patch, foam metallic velcro belt, metallic boot covers). This time the cape was attached with velcro. The proportions were smaller, which was good and bad. The waist was not as dropped (the “v” was very close to her belly button) and the skirt was shorter. The fit was much better on top, but there was concern about the skirt. The front fell a little above the knee, but the back rode up some (She is about 5’5). We remedied that with stockings (hosiery, not leggings) and the boot covers helped. There was not a problem getting the boot covers up the leg, but the bottoms are a joke. The front is this small point shaped flap of material and you step through a piece of elastic to keep it on. They do not cover like the woman in the picture. With booties and some tucking, they were able to work. The belt was large even in the smaller size, but safety pins worked all day. The cape stayed on firmly. Overall, we were both happy and I hope to donate this costume, as it is nice and was only worn once.

Nice Costume, but Easily Damaged
I quite liked this costume. The blue material is very velvety. However, the red cape, skirt, and boots are made of a material that easily sticks together. This didn’t matter so much for the cape and skirt, which were packaged in such a way that they were undamaged, but the belt and boot covers are folded together in this tiny bag. When I tried to take them apart, I found the material was fused together and even though I managed to pry them apart (and open the boot covers, which had fused to themselves), there were a lot of striations where the paint had torn away. I returned the costume and the next one was much improved, with paint damage to the boot covers confined to only a few specks.The belt is very large. I cut mine up and sewed it to fit my hip-size. Even though it sat on my hips perfectly, as I wore it, it began to rise up from my hips to my waist (since there is nothing on the costume to keep the belt in in place). Either you’ll have to leave the belt super-big so it doesn’t ride up, or else you’ll have to take it in like I did, but add some belt loops to the sides of your costume to keep it from riding up.On both of the costumes I ordered (the original and the replacement), the Superwoman shield is slightly askew — the original more so than the replacement.The cape is cool and I like how broad it is, but it only comes down to right above the skirt. That is problem, because the skirt is very short (and is in fact shorter in the back than it is in the front, which is almost the opposite of what one wants!) Btw, I ordered a small and am 5’5″. A longer cape would have helped hide the skirt’s “shortcoming.” I had to wear black nylons underneath my costume, since any position other than standing straight up would have exposed my butt.The shirt is very wide-cut. The sleeves barely hang onto my shoulder, which is problematic, since none of my bras have straps that wide. It is also rather low-cut, but not cleavage-baring unless you bend over. The collar sits at about the same height as my bra. I did like how the sleeves taper down over the back of my hands.The boot covers are quite snug. At first, I was afraid I would not be able to get them on. I finally had to pull them over my boots, and THEN put on my boots — it’s impossible to do it the other way around. They weren’t constricting once they were on, though, which was a plus. However, there is no way to get them to cover the whole shoe — they are simply too thin and short — they pop off the toe instantly. They strap underneath the shoe with a thin piece of velcro, so you have to wear boots or walking will be uncomfortable. I wore black boots and let the cover just rest on top of my shoes. About 1.5″ of black boot toe was exposed, but it still looked very good. I had people tell me they didn’t realize the boot cover and the boots were two separate things.The only other thing to mention is the wrinkles. Because the belt arrives folded up so tightly, it is severely wrinkled in weird places. The skirt and cape is also wrinkled because of the material they’re made of. Hanging up the costume helped only slightly. Since it cannot be ironed, there is really no way to get them out. However, they don’t really detract from the costume as long as you know they WILL be there.All in all, I was glad of my purchase, but only because I wasn’t afraid to return the damaged one and get a replacement. There were lots of ways it could be improved, but for the price, it wasn’t too bad.

For the price this is a cute, colorful, comfortable costume. The material is lightweight. The skirt is a couple of inches shorter than I thought it would be. I didn’t did wear shorts underneath. So, was careful about raising my arms up.

It’s a pretty good costume as far as plus size Halloween costumes …
It’s a pretty good costume as far as plus size Halloween costumes go. It was affordable and modest and cute. However it was too large in the bust, which as a 38DD almost never happens to me, and got a bit scandalous at times. It was also a bit wide in the neck area and my bra straps kept showing, which was annoying. Fiddling with the top of my costume all night is not how you want to spend Halloween, so I ended up just wearing footie pajamas instead. The boot covers were kinda pathetic, but they actually went up around my giant calves, which is a feat in and of itself. I found it nearly impossible to keep the belt in place, it kept riding up. The rest of the costume fit beautifully. I’m 5’3″ and typically wear a 16/18 or 1x and it hit me just above the knee. The sleeves were too long, but I have short arms. It’s made out of really good material for a Halloween costume and the cape was awesome. It was a decent costume, but I just had a few too many problems to make it worth actually wearing.

Obsessed!!!!!
I never ever write reviews! I’m obsessed with this costume. I ordered size 4-6. It couldn’t fit more perfectly. I am about 5’4 140 pounds about a 36 DDD. I hope that helps anyone trying to figure out a size. It really is great fitting, amazing quality and super comfortable. I was nervous it was going to be too warm because of the velvet but it’s a nice weight. In Colorado it could be 90 or 20 on Halloween.

NOT for people with butts
Looks amazing, torso part fit perfectly but the skirt did not cover ANYTHING in the back, I’m all for a good mini skirt, but the “dress” portion of this costume barely reached my tailbone. The front was a good length but I’m not sure what happened with the back of if

Fabric choices & Finer Details!
Adorable, comfy & well made. The belt & boot covers weren’t for me, but the dress & cape were SO bright and fun — I loved the velvet & metallic fabrics. I looked at a few other Supergirl costumes for this Halloween, but this is the only one that has a more open collar & detailed sleeves, so it was the true winner for me. I am 5’9 and wear a 16/18 dress size, and the large fit me just fine. (A little short, but hey, it’s a miniskirt!)

Love this costume!
The biggest issue with this costume like everyone says, is the size. I usually wear a size medium in clothes, I am of an average body type and I am about 5’8″-5’9″ in height. I read so many reviews and looked at other supergirl costumes before deciding what size to get (and which costume to get). Since it is very chilly around Halloween time I decided not to get the one where my belly is showing, and I also knew that the long sleeve and velvet material would be a huge positive.Okay, the size is actually bigger than it should be. And the length is shorter than it should be. I did end up getting a medium only because I felt it would be easier to deal with it being loose than short on me. Don’t get me wrong, the Medium was still rather short, mostly because I’m a tall girl. I definitely wore shorts under.The belt it comes with is really big also! But as a quick fix, I did a couple of knots on it and stuck it together, with the knots being behind my back. This was okay because the cape did a good job in covering it. Also, the belt helped tighten the waistline of the costume for a better fit.The arm length was pretty short, but probably cause I have long arms. I guess on an average person the length would be justtt right.I had somewhat of a problem around the chest and shoulder area for this costume too. You’d probably have to have a larger chest just to fit well into this costume, and I don’t so it was loose on me and I had to be constantly fixing it.As for the material, the velvet is very warm! If you’re going to be indoors in a very heated place and don’t want to sweat–I don’t recommend this costume. But if you’re walking around in the cold and need a little extra warmth, and still want to look cute, this is the costume for you.The skirt and the cape and boot covers were stuck together when it came in the package, but you just have to remember to peel it slowly and carefully. The paint might come off, but very faintly and it won’t be noticeable.Many people complain about the boot covers and the size of the calves and stuff. The fabric isn’t very stretchy but if your calves are pretty big (not too big, normal big) they’ll fit well and will hold up for most of the time. Eventually they do start riding down but not so much that they’re down to your ankles or something.I did not worry about what shoes to wear with these. I simply wore a pair of red converse and tucked the ends of the covers into the shoes and my costume still looked great!Overall, I really liked this costume it’s really cute. There was a lot of things I had to deal with, but just the fact that this costume is so cute, I loved wearing it, and didn’t look bad, I gave it another star.

Supergirl without showing the stomach, and such fast delivery!
I live in Canada and I ordered off the USA Amazon.com site. I ordered it on Thursday October 25, 2012 in the evening. It got to my house on Monday, October 29, 2012 even though I chose the slowest and cheapest shipping. Well done Amazon!! I’m very pleased about that. I ordered it thinking it would arrive too late and was going to use it for next year.I have been looking for a Supergirl costume that doesn’t show the stomach. The only one I can get in my city in Canada is the two piece Supergirl costume that bares your stomach, which isn’t really my style. When I saw this one in a full dress, I had to jump on it! I am not a consistent size in Rubies costumes. I fit an XS for Wonder Woman perfectly, but the XS Batgirl costume was too big. I decided to try the XS anyways because if it was too big I could always take it in, and since other reviewers said to get a size smaller I figured it likely wouldn’t be too small. Well it pretty much fits perfectly, a tiny bit loose in the waist but tightening the belt hides that. The belt is extremely large, so you do have to adjust the velcro with some quick sewing.The quality of the costume is very good. The blue is a velveteen material and the cape, skirt, and boot covers are the typical shiny Halloween costume material. It is comparable to a $60 to $70 + tax costume here in Canada (that’s how much the 2 piece Supergirl costume here is, and it is the same company and materials). As other reviewers have said, the skirt is short in the back, it just covers my butt cheeks. I think this is because the front goes down in a V, so the front looks longer. I will just have to wear shorts under neath or black tights. People are correct in saying that the boot covers are tiny. They are really tight, and I would say I have average calves. The bottom of the boot covers are also too small to actually pull over whatever shoes/boots you are wearing, so I am not sure what to do about that. Maybe buy red shoes? I might buy those boots other reviewers have been talking about. To compare, my Wonder Woman boot covers (also made by Rubies) were large enough to pull over regular boots that I wore.So in the end, I took off 1 star because of the strange fitting boot covers and the large belt. But otherwise it is a very good quality costume, especially for what you are paying for.To help with size and fit, I am 5’6″, 125 lbs with a thin muscular/toned build and I normally fit a dress size 0-2. People often estimate me at 110lbs by the way I look. The XS was only a little bit loose in the waist.
